Citrix was founded in Texas more than two decades ago, back in 1989, by Ed Iacobucci who was also a former developer at IBM. Today, it is based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida but have other offices in California and Massachusetts as well as operation centers in the UK, Australia and India.
Citrix went public in 1995. It was in October 2007 that the company acquired XenSource, Inc. for better focus on software development and innovation especially in the Xen open source hypervisor project.
There are three key products under Citrix – Citrix Delivery Center, Citrix Cloud Center (C3) and Citrix Online Services. These technological innovations aim to transform your workplace. - Citrix Delivery Center – transforms any server, desktop and laptop, and applications. With XrnDesktop, XenApp, XenServer, and NetScaler, everything is centralized in a datacenter and are then delivered as on-demand services.
- Citrix Cloud Center – provides IT organizations and service providers to offer cloud solutions in enterprise workload administration. This includes virtualization, application deliver capabilities, networking, and advances in networks and identity domains.
- Citrix Online Services – GoToMeeting, GoToWebinar, GoToAssist and GoView are features of this member of the Citrix family of online services.
All Citrix products are developed to answer the evolving needs of businesses and the people in the almost industries. As a matter of fact, there are now more than 230,000 businesses and enterprises that utilize the various products of the company.
It has been estimated that, everyday, three out of four internet users are part of the versatile virtual web that Citrix has helped run and grow. There are greater than 100 million corporate terminals are also part of that web.
